Uruguayan type designer Fermín Guerrero contacted us with a clear briefing: he wanted us to design a type foundry with a sober, Swiss style, where typefaces were the main protagonists, without images and without stridency.
Our proposal for the web design is a strict grid, where all the elements are meticulously taken care of and adjusted, so that the user knows perfectly what to do at every moment. The typography shines in different sizes and configurations because it is the true protagonist of the project.
Minimalism in color
Following the minimalist concept of the project, the color range is composed of gray as background, black as text color and a phosphorescent orange accent that emerges as one of the pillars of the brand. Users of the site have the option of choosing three colors for the background -grey, white or black- in order to understand more precisely how Fuerte Type’s typographies behave.
In the studio, we had never faced the challenge of designing using so few elements. Although we like the Swiss style, we are not exactly die-hard practitioners. The experience allowed us to get out of our comfort zone and face new situations that ended up teaching us a lot.
